Bring 'Em On Stage

Welcome to new friends and hi to old ones. This is a very exciting time for us as we’ve been releasing features more rapidly. Since we last spoke we made significant improvements to how players join teams and introduced the ability for hosts to pull players on stage (more on that below).

Over the next two months we will be working on a major overhaul of the platform that will put us in a position to truly elevate interactive game shows online. I can’t wait to share more with you over the coming weeks. As a reminder, we’re creating an all-in-one tool where hosts can produce a branded, interactive game show allowing users to watch and play from self-formed parties.

  • Our Instagram account now has >420 followers (up from ~150 in mid-February). If you haven’t followed us yet what are you doing??

  • We are continuing to thoughtfully open the platform to hosts and have now trained 40 of you through our Alpha Invite program; if you reached out and haven’t heard please follow up!

  • We’re seeing incredibly positive feedback from larger games with team oriented play. It’s clear Luna Park really solves a problem for trivia team play.

  • Early feedback on the Bring on Stage feature indicates that it will open new types of game play for hosts such as Feud, Jeopardy style, and other unique games. Here is a direct quote from one of our hosts: “The ability to bring players on stage is a f---ing game changer. I was burned out doing trivia alone and now I feel reinvigorated.”

📞 Lowlights

  • We were able to move forward with our offsite (after postponing due to COVID concerns) but unfortunately only 6 of 8 team members were there...soon enough we hope to all be together in person!

  • The new All Teams tab and the Bring on Stage feature were developed in separate environments leading to a bit of pain when we tried to merge the code

  • The Bring on Stage feature introduced a slight bit of complexity for hosts that use OBS on Luna Park...we’ve got some workarounds so it’s not a major deal

💡 Product Updates

As I mentioned throughout the newsletter, we launched the Bring On Stage feature this week and we are really excited about the possibilities. As a host, all you have to do is click on anyone’s face in the audience preview or name in the chat and they will instantly appear on stage. You can then choose when to remove them or the user can remove themselves. This opens up 🎤 2 way communication in a BIG way. The host can bring up to 4 players on stage at a time and everyone in the venue can see and hear them.

As you can see from the video preview above we worked hard to ensure that the host still retains prominence on the screen even when the players are on stage. With that said, the host can mute their video (and still be heard) spotlighting just the players on stage. Here is a little GIF of a host demo’ing Crowd Control Games with Bring on Stage:

We can’t wait to see what you do with it!
